All Aboard!

Welcome to “Merry”, a beautiful 40-foot, 4-berth narrowboat. Owned by the Christmas family, she is based on the Oxford Canal, just north of Oxford.
 

This delightful boat sleeps up to four people in two stylish cabins, with a fixed double bed, and a convertible dinette double.  A well-equipped galley and attractive shower room complete the layout.

The owners, Carol & Pete Christmas, explain:  "We use Merry regularly and want to share her with other boaters.  We are particularly keen for youngsters to have an opportunity to experience the delights of boating and the canal environment."

“We designed Merry for maximum enjoyment, bringing together the best features of boats that we’d hired.  She is ideal for one or two couples, but can also accommodate children.  Just as the boat builders started we discovered that we needed to find ways to contain a small child safely – so they built a playpen!  We also involved our parents to make sure that Merry was suitable for less-able or less-confident people."  For a full description click here and plan click here.

The area where Merry is moored contains some beautiful places and stunning scenery. If you’re a newcomer you will enjoy the wide canal and occasional locks on the 50 miles of the South Oxford Canal. If you are more experienced and have more time, journey north to the Grand Union Junction at Napton and head towards Birmingham or London.  Alternatively, cruise south and join the Thames at Eynsham. We provide all boat fuel, central heating, hot water and gas for the cooker, towels, bedding and bed linen. You only need to bring clothing, food and drink. Click here for our Conditions of Use.
